At Hive, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our digital business card platform.

1. Information We Collect

Account Data

When you create an account, we collect your email address, authentication credentials, and any information provided through third-party sign-in (e.g., Google OAuth). This data is necessary to create and manage your account.

Profile Data

Information you voluntarily add to your profile, including your display name, headline, bio, avatar image, and links. This data is displayed on your public profile page and is visible to anyone who visits it.

Lead Capture Data

When visitors submit their email address through your public profile's contact form, we collect their email address and optional first name on your behalf. This data is stored and made available to you through your dashboard.

Usage and Analytics Data

We may collect information about how you interact with the Service, including pages visited, features used, and device information (browser type, operating system). This helps us improve the Service.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide, operate, and maintain the Service
  • To create and display your public profile page
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions
  • To send transactional emails (account verification, password resets)
  • To deliver captured leads to your dashboard
  • To improve and optimize the Service

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following third-party services that are essential to operating Hive:

  • Stripe — Payment processing. Stripe receives your payment information to process subscription charges and card purchases. See Stripe's Privacy Policy.
  • Supabase — Database and authentication. Your account data and profile information are stored securely on Supabase infrastructure. See Supabase's Privacy Policy.
  • Fly.io — Hosting and deployment. Fly.io serves the application and may collect standard web server logs. See Fly.io's Privacy Policy.

4. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and browser local/session storage to maintain your authentication session, remember your preferences, and ensure the Service functions correctly. We do not use third-party tracking cookies for advertising purposes.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Profile data is retained until you modify or delete it. Lead capture data is retained until you delete individual leads or your account. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Update — Correct or update your personal information through your account settings
  • Delete — Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Export — Request an export of your data in a portable format
  • Unsubscribe — Opt out of non-essential email communications at any time

7. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. All data is transmitted over HTTPS, authentication is handled securely through Supabase, and payment data is processed by Stripe (PCI-DSS compliant). However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 16, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
